Monthly focus for August 2017
Foundational Movements: Cleans, thrusters
Physical Literacy: Bounding, leaping, throwing
Plane of Movement: Transverse
Accessory Movements: Lunges, hollows, flutter kicks
WARM-UP:
10-meter high-knee skip
10-meter “bounding” (practice movement)
FOCUS:
Jumping jacks by the numbers (insert video)
Jumping jack clean practice
GET READY:
1:00 – bottom of the squat
1:00 each side – piriformis stretch
CONDITIONING:
AMGMAP in 8:00
3 hang power cleans, unloaded-10# dumbbell
5 blocked squats
10 grasshoppers
* have kids write what they did best today on whiteboard
GAME:
Hillbilly Basketball – Arrange 3 inverted jump boxes or large buckets set at different heights in a 30’ x 30’ area. Divide class into 2 teams. Using a 4#-6# medicine ball, teams attempt to score points by making baskets. Players must pass the ball at least once upon start and can only take one step carrying it. Each basket counts as one point.
